Volunteering

đŸŒ±Join us in making a difference

Volunteering with TIP-MGDRC is an opportunity to contribute directly to our mission of empowering Indigenous farmers in Nepal’s Terai region through regenerative agriculture, food sovereignty, and economic sustainability. Whether on the ground in Nepal or remotely from anywhere in the world, volunteers play a crucial role in expanding our impact and strengthening our initiatives.

We welcome individual volunteers, students, professionals, and trainees from diverse backgrounds who wish to support our cause. Volunteers can either join independently or through partnerships with educational institutions, research centers, and professional organizations. Our current partners include UC Louvain in Belgium, Waldorf School in Nepal, and several German institutions, and we are continuously expanding our network to welcome new collaborations.

Field Volunteering in the Terai

For those who want to experience working directly with Indigenous communities, we offer on-the-ground volunteering in the Terai region. Volunteers contribute to key initiatives such as:

  • Supporting farmers in regenerative agricultural practices
  • Assisting in seed bank management and heirloom seed distribution
  • Assisting in improving solid and liquid compost technics
  • Helping with training sessions, workshops, and educational programs
  • Engaging in community development and policy advocacy efforts
  • Conducting research on agroecology, Indigenous rights, and sustainability

To ensure the sustainability of our local operations, we request that organizations sending volunteers contribute to the local costs of their placement. This support helps cover expenses such as accommodation, transportation, and field coordination, amounting to $10 to $15 per month per volunteer. This financial contribution is a standard practice applied to both volunteers and trainees joining through institutional partnerships.

Individuals who wish to volunteer independently (not through an organization) are also welcome, and no financial contribution is required from them.

đŸŒ±Remote volunteering (Worldwide)

For those who want to support TIP-MGDRC but cannot travel to Nepal, we offer various remote volunteering opportunities that allow individuals to contribute from anywhere in the world. Remote volunteers can assist with:

  • Regenerative agriculture, agroecology and biodynamic farming expertise support to support our farming practices
  • Day to day farm activities support to coordinate the work of all farmers
  • Grant writing and fundraising support to expand our impact
  • Research and advocacy for Indigenous rights and land sovereignty
  • Marketing, social media, and content creation to raise awareness
  • IT and digital transformation to improve our technological tools especially towards carbon credit
  • Monitoring and impact assessment support

There is no volunteering fee for those working remotely, as all contributions are made in-kind through time, skills, and expertise.

đŸŒ±Partner with us: institutional volunteering & traineeships

We actively collaborate with universities, research institutions, and schools that wish to send students and trainees for hands-on learning experiences. Organizations can support their students’ and volunteers’ engagement by contributing a small stipend to cover local operational costs ($10-$15 per month per volunteer). This ensures that our team can provide proper support, accommodation arrangements, and logistical assistance for a meaningful experience.

If your institution is interested in partnering with TIP-MGDRC to create a structured volunteering or traineeship program, we welcome discussions to tailor an engagement model that aligns with both your educational goals and our mission.
